Companies like the National Magazine Exchange offer a vast range of magazines. Is your child interested in fashion or art? Maybe he is more interested in sports or technology? There are magazines with tips and ideas for creative activities as well, which can inspire your child to pursue interests other than those that the computer has to offer. National Magazine Exchange: Children Benefit From Reading Magazines

Are you worried that between television, video games, and a little bit of healthy exercise your kids just don’t have time to sit down and read just for fun? Books can be daunting prospects to children who seem so over-scheduled. National Magazine Exchange offers a great solution to this problem that parents face. Consider getting your child or children a subscription to a magazine geared toward children. Your child can sit down and read one short article on a subject which interests him, enjoy it and learn something, and then move on. He can come back to the magazine later and before you know it, he’s read it all, and had lots of fun doing it. Kid’s magazines offered by NME contain games, puzzles, stories about kids, and other subjects that children find irresistible. National Magazine believes, and it has been proven through the experience of many children and parents, that kids magazines are a great way to introduce reading to children.

National Magazine Exchange Suggests a Way to Get More for Less

Do you love to read magazines? Do you have a lot of interests that the right subscription satisfies? It is certainly true that magazines are bursting with all kinds of great information that make many aspects of our lives, from home finances, to home and car maintenance, to cooking, to vacations, just about everything we do and dream about more exciting and interesting.

National Magazine Exchange has such a large selection of magazines to choose from that you will probably wish you could get a subscription to several, but you hesitate not only because of the expense, but maybe even because of the clutter of too many magazines around.

NME has a great idea to solve this problem. Get together with a few friends with similar interests and start a magazine sharing exchange. Decide between two or three friends which magazines to subscribe to, and share the cost between you. Then when each of you has finished with one of the magazines, pass it on to the next member.

Save money and clutter, and best of all, share the things you read with your friends.

Encourage Your Partner’s Favorite Hobbies

If your husband has always dreamed of becoming a top scientist, but has never quite gotten around to doing anything about it, why not try to encourage this as part of a hobby he can enjoy today? Your first step can be to sign up for a subscription from the National Magazine Exchange for a science-based magazine. Then, before you know it, he’ll be using his time wisely engaging in something he really enjoys. Who knows? He could actually discover something that will make you and your family a ton of money so that you’ll never have to worry about finances again! But even if it doesn’t go to such great lengths, if he’s just interested again in something he once loved, you’ll be living with a happier and more energetic partner than you have done for years.

Reading Creates Possibilities

Everyone knows that reading is quite beneficial.  This is certainly true for children, but is even the case for adults.  Reading allows you to improve your spelling, to expand your horizons, and to increase your vocabulary.  It helps you to understand the world in different ways and to learn about cultures that you might never see or otherwise understand.

While some children get bored or overwhelmed by the idea of reading an entire book, most will eagerly read a short magazine.  This is why magazines, like those choices that you would find at National Magazine Exchange, are such a great gift.

For children, reading is invaluable.  Children who read have, over and over again, shown significantly better results on tests for vocabulary, reading comprehension, and so much more. Reading helps children to expand their imaginations and to learn about other people.  It breeds understanding and appreciation for other cultures, and even for one’s own.

NME understands how important reading is and encourages parents to make magazines a special gift to their children today!

Getting a subscription is really a relatively inexpensive way of doing something fun without breaking the bank. Check out all the different subjects of magazines the National Magazine Exchange has to offer and you might be pleasantly surprised. Here Comes the Well-Prepared Bride

Getting married can be very stressful. There are so many things to consider and pieces of the event to coordinate.  Certainly, you have to consider the obvious items like the dress, the flowers, the band and the bridesmaids outfits.  You also need to think about the less obvious items such as the order for walking down the aisle, the religious significance to attach to your marriage ceremony, etc.

One easy way to deal with all of these issues and to keep your sanity is with a bridal magazine.  From the time that you are engaged (or perhaps before!) you can get a subscription from National Magazine Exchange, or another source, to all sorts of bridal magazines.  These magazines help you to outline all of the important items, they offer checklists, they provide suggestions and so much more.

And, once you've gotten married, and no longer need those bridal magazines, you can switch your subscription.  National Magazine Exchange has a unique service that allows you to switch the magazines you receive, while maintaining your basic subscription. Your mother would probably love to see you switching to a pregnancy magazine or a parenting one!  Perhaps you'd prefer something about recipe planning and trip enjoyment.

Magazines are great for helping you to plan the big event - and then to enjoy the rest of your life together!

Art Projects with Magazines

A magazine subscription is really the gift that just keeps on giving.  Why?  Well, because when you purchase a magazine subscription from National Magazine Exchange or another company, you get to enjoy reading it.  Then, you get to use the magazines for all sorts of fun projects.

One great idea is to cut your old magazines into strips and then to weave the strips together for a colorful placemat!  Help your kids who are learning to read to have fun by cutting out all sorts of words from the magazines and then having them make crazy poetry.  Kids love this activity as it is creative and engaging – and they won’t even notice that you are actually practicing their reading with them.

If you have a real little one at home, you can create an alphabet book or an animal book.  Cut out alphabet letters from the magazine, or bright colors, shapes, animals, and more and make a colorful book for them to read through and enjoy.

NME Lending Hand to Haiti

In recent charitable news, the National Magazine Exchange is doing its part for the relief efforts in Hait.  They created a great fundraiser by sponsoring a "Jeans Day."  This means that anyone who contributed to the Haiti relief efforts was then given permission to wear jeans to work for a day.

All of the proceeds that were collected went to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and over 250 employees got to kick back in their jeans on Monday, January 25th at National Magazine Exchange.  A win-win situation for everyone involved!

As the CFO of NME Harold Hale explained, “The employees of National Magazine Exchange are proud to support the tremendous work done by the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund in their relief efforts.”

Creative Uses for Magazines

So, you’ve finished reading your fantastic magazine from National Magazine Exchange, and it’s time to figure out what to do next.  Do you throw away the magazine (No!). Do you recycle it in the recycling bin (Sure, you can).  Another idea which is certainly more creative and more fun is to make cool envelopes with the magazine pages.  If you are sending a letter to someone who loves cars, for instance, you can use pictures of cars to create the envelope.

If you are artistic, you can use pictures from the magazines to practice your art.  Choose a medium, including chalk drawing, water colors, or other ideas, and get to work practicing with the magazine example.

Have fun using magazines creatively.  This offers you two opportunities to love your magazine subscription. First, you get to enjoy reading the magazine and then you get to enjoy doing something creative with it!

Crafty Mom Ideas

Not all moms are crafty.  Yes, I know that everyone thinks that moms are supposed to be crafty – but that isn’t a skill that they hand to you in the hospital with the diapers that you take home for your infant.  So, how is the ordinary mom who can’t build a model airplane supposed to cope with all of the art projects that kids want to do?

Getting the craft help that you need doesn’t have to be a daunting task at all.  Today, there are so many craft magazines on the market, that you could actually have a new craft idea every single day of the week if you wanted it!  To order a magazine subscription from National Magazine Exchange or another company takes virtually no time at all, and it will offer at least a year worth of craft ideas.

This type of resource really becomes a lifesaver!  Each issue in a craft magazine offers new and interesting ideas for kids of all ages.  Whether you have one child, or a whole birthday party of kids, you’ll find activities and suggestions with step-by-step instructions that just about any parent can follow.  Have fun building!

A Winning Gift

Sometimes, it’s difficult to know what to purchase a child for his birthday.  Yet another water gun, a bouncy ball or an art set will probably be tossed aside and forgotten about within minutes.  What will make a lasting impression – and build on literacy skills?  A magazine subscription! If you hit the target right, and find a magazine topic that the child loves, you’ll have a gift that keeps on giving.

If you know the child well, you can probably figure out what National Magazine Exchange magazine to purchase.  With almost any topic under the sun available, you’ll be able to find a magazine on skiing, sailing, animals, hiking, hunting, cars, and more.  Today’s children definitely don’t read as much as they could – and a magazine subscription from National Magazine Exchange or another location will promote literacy.

Giving a magazine subscription is a winning gift.  You win because you’ve thought of something creative, thoughtful and inexpensive.  They win because they will be working on their reading skills while enjoying themselves.  And it doesn’t get much better than that!

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is really – really – just around the corner.  It’s time to get cracking if you haven’t already gotten your special someone a gift. Here are a few suggestions that you can do at the last minute and still be in your loved one’s good graces.

1.      Flowers – You can always give flowers. The best thing about this gift is that it’s supposed to be given at the last minute so you won’t be behind if you haven’t done anything yet!

2.      Magazine subscriptions – One of the best things about a magazine subscription is that it’s a gift that keeps on giving.  You order the subscription now from National Magazine Exchange or another company, but it keeps on giving for a year or more.  You can create a cute little certificate to give to your loved one on February 14 explaining what you bought, since you won’t have anything to hand to her or him.

3.      Lingerie – There is still time to run out and buy some cute and sexy lingerie for the big day.

Create a Magazine Exchange

Certainly, in a down economy, everyone wants to find ways to save money.  People often get creative and start pinching pennies in many different ways.  Some people will decide to start depriving themselves of certain luxury items – their great morning coffee run, their favorite ice cream scoops, or their magazines.  National Magazine Exchange certainly wants you to save in this economy – and you can do so without skimping on some of your favorites.  Here’s how.

Rather than giving up your favorite magazines when your budget tightens, you can, instead, do a magazine exchange with friends.  What would this entail? A magazine exchange means that you keep ordering some of your magazines, and you create an exchange with a friend.  Of course, you’ll want to make sure that your friend orders magazines that you will enjoy, and that you have selections that she will also enjoy.

And then – for half the price, you both have the opportunity to read all of the magazines that you love.  This is a great, creative way to save money, while still enjoying your reading materials.

Burn Calories While Magazine Reading

Whether you’ve purchased your fantastic magazines from the National Magazine Exchange or from another resource, there comes a time when you need to part with your stash.  Certainly, you should read and enjoy each magazine at length – but what should you do with these magazines when you finish with them?

Here are two suggestions for magazine use.  Your friends can enjoy your magazines as much as you have.  Tear off your name and address, stack your magazines together, and bring them to the gym.  People often search for something to read while they are at the gym on the treadmill, on the bike, and more.

Another idea is to bring them to your place of work.  When it’s break time, people will undoubtedly appreciate having something fun to read.

Give It Forward

Certainly, we all want to help others, but how can a magazine subscription that you have with the National Magazine Exchange help anybody else?  When you finish reading your issues each month, you can recycle them by giving them forward.

What does this mean?  Rather than throwing your magazines away or putting them in a recycling bin, why not deliver them to a food bank or food kitchen?  Undoubtedly, the women at a domestic violence shelter would enjoy getting their minds off of their troubles with a bit of light reading.  Find a neighborhood literacy program and provide them with some of your great reading materials.

When we think creatively, we really can find ways to make one little magazine subscription from the National Magazine Exchange or another company help others.
